Public Participation in PM’s Vadodara Programme Sets New Benchmark

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming programme in Vadodara on Tuesday has created a buzz after the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) enabled public participation through a unique digital initiative on BookMyShow. This first-of-its-kind digital registration method saw all available seats booked within merely one hour, demonstrating the public’s keen interest.

Over 42,000 eager applicants have found themselves on a waiting list, showcasing unparalleled enthusiasm among the citizens for Prime Minister Modi’s initiatives. The programme promises to unveil various development projects worth ₹35,000 crore during the PM’s visit to Gujarat and Maharashtra.

This cutting-edge event will feature a fully digital entry system. Registered participants will receive a digital M-Ticket via their BookMyShow accounts, equipped with a secure live QR code for hassle-free entry verification. By using technology to streamline the registration and verification processes, the initiative aims to facilitate faster access and smoother crowd movement at the venue.

During his visit, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate and dedicate several major projects, including three significant sections of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) stretching across 326 route kilometers and costing over ₹20,700 crore. These sections include the New Sanand (N)-New Makarpura, New Umbergaon-New Saphale, and New Saphale-New JNPT.

This new connectivity will not only bolster the movement of EXIM (export-import) cargo but will also ease transportation to and from significant industrial zones and ports. Additionally, it will contribute to reducing logistics costs and decongesting Mumbai’s railway network, making it instrumental for the region’s economic growth.

With the operationalization of these sections, the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) network will enhance the country’s logistics ecosystem by improving multimodal connectivity and facilitating cargo movement seamlessly.

Prime Minister Modi will also flag off new freight train services from New Sanand (North), New Makarpura, New Umbergaon, and New JNPT. Furthermore, he will initiate a new passenger train service connecting Tanda Road and Vadodara (Pratapnagar), which is expected to significantly benefit local commuters.

In addition to rail projects, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stones for three railway initiatives covering 329 kilometers, costing over ₹9,700 crore. These projects include the Vadodara-Ratlam third and fourth lines, Miyagam Karjan-Choranda-Malsar gauge conversion, and the Vishwamitri-Dabhoi doubling project, enhancing both passenger and freight capacity.

Infrastructure development is at the forefront of Modi’s agenda. He will also lay the foundation for three National Highway projects amounting to around ₹1,780 crore. Notable activities under this initiative include the six-laning of the Kamrej-Chalthan section of NH-48 and the construction of vital bridges over the Tapi and Narmada rivers on the Vadodara-Surat stretch.

The Prime Minister’s agenda includes several other major projects funded by the Government of Gujarat, worth approximately ₹2,600 crore. These projects encompass the Vadodara Urban Development Authority Ring Road Phase II and a 110 MW floating solar project at Kadana Dam, contributing to sustainable energy solutions in the region.

Additionally, various housing projects under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) along with a water-supply initiative benefiting 11 villages in eastern Vadodara will also be inaugurated, resonating the government’s commitment to citizen welfare.

Modi will further delineate his role in Mumbai by inaugurating the Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2026, marking it as one of the world’s largest and most influential annual fintech conferences. The seventh edition of GFF will take place from September 8 to 11, 2026, drawing attention to India’s significant progress in digital finance.

Set under the theme “Potential to Impact: Agentic AI, Tokenisation, Quantum – Trusted, Connected, Global Systems for Inclusive Finance,” GFF 2026 aims to bring together various stakeholders, including policymakers and technology leaders, to discuss and shape the future of the finance sector.

Positioning itself as a convergence point for policy, technology, and capital, GFF 2026 aspires to leverage India’s identity in digital payments while striving towards providing measurable outcomes for citizens and enterprises alike.
