LG Manoj Sinha and CM Omar Abdullah convey heartfelt greetings for Vijayadashami and Gandhi Jayanti, urging unity, peace, and adherence to Mahatma Gandhi’s principles.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah extended heartfelt greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the eve of Vijayadashami and Gandhi Jayanti. Their messages highlight the significance of these festivals in promoting moral values and communal harmony.
In his message, Lieutenant Governor Sinha expressed, “On the joyous occasion of Vijayadashami, I extend my warm greetings and good wishes to all for their happiness, well-being, and prosperity. Vijayadashami symbolizes the victory of good over evil and righteousness over unrighteousness. May this sacred festival inspire us to work for unity, peace, and progress of the country and strengthen our spirit of harmony, brotherhood, and oneness.”
As the nation celebrates Gandhi Jayanti, LG Sinha paid rich tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his 156th birth anniversary. He stated, “I pay my heartfelt tribute to the Father of the Nation. This is an occasion for all of us to rededicate ourselves to internalize Bapuji’s ideals of peace, non-violence, truth, tolerance, compassion, and selfless service. Bapu dedicated his life to India’s freedom, social equity, and rural development. His concept of Swadeshi focused on self-reliance and promoting local production. I appeal to all people to buy Swadeshi products and support local artisans and cottage industries.”
Sinha further urged everyone to pledge, “On this momentous day, let us follow the path of truth and non-violence, promote peace, and work for building a Viksit Bharat.”
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah echoed similar sentiments, celebrating Vijayadashami as a festival that highlights the triumph of good over evil. He stated, “Dussehra inspires people to uphold the values of truth, righteousness, and justice under all circumstances. It conveys a timeless message of moral courage and harmony, which is vital for building a better society.”
Abdullah too extended warm greetings for Gandhi Jayanti, emphasizing the relevance of Gandhi’s teachings today. He remarked, “Mahatma Gandhi’s timeless teachings of Satya, Ahimsa, peace, and humanity hold greater significance in today’s conflict-ridden world. He waged an unwavering struggle against untouchability, caste discrimination, and inequality. Gandhi’s philosophy continues to inspire generations and remains a guiding light for building a tolerant, harmonious, and just society.”
He encouraged the community, especially the youth, to embrace Gandhi Ji’s ideals of peace, communal harmony, and brotherhood in their daily lives. As people across Jammu and Kashmir prepare to celebrate these significant occasions, the calls for unity and righteousness resonate with the deeper values underlying these festivals.
